The screen recording above is evidence of myself editing the offline edit. I did not find it easy to edit this in order to meet the codes and conventions. The audio ( sound effects) needed to be made louder in certain places to fit better with the dialogue and vice versa. Most shots needed to be cut down so that the piece would flow better overall. To improve my trailer I will pay more attention to the codes and conventions and make my trailer follow these closer so it fits the genre and medium, when it comes to my online edit.
P6: Carry out post production processes to edit the audio-visual material to produce the final product
Naming clips One of the first things I did before I started editing was name all of my individual clips/ shots. This made everything a lot more organised, and made the whole editing process so much easier. Using this in unison with my rushes log sheet, it meant that I could easily pick an choose the clips that would make the cut for my final piece.
Music and Audio When searching for music for my trailer, I always knew I wanted something very sad and something that progressed throughout the piece. Once I found the right royalty free music for my production, I downloaded it and dragged it into the editing suite. Placing it under my visuals, I began to match the shots with different parts of the track, cutting it up so that both audio and visual fitted seamlessly together. It was important that I added keyframes to the track when their was also dialogue over the top. This was imperative because it has to grab the attention of the audience. I had to add keyframes to the music track when the teachers were talking to each other for example because the audio was quiet so it was important to drop the volume so the audience can hear what is being said.
The reason I chose this track specifically is because it fits the narrative of my trailer so well. It starts off very slow and sad, and gets more tense and dramatic throughout. It also fits well with the different sound effects I have used.

Text There is quite a bit of text in between some of the shots, and this is because these are common conventions of a trailer, for example adding the 'best film award' at the beginning is something often seen in trailers. As well as this I added the name of the film, a few intriguing pieces of text, and credits. These are all things to peak the interest of the audience, and hopefully will get them to engage even more than the footage and audio would alone.
Exporting
These are the steps I took to export my trailer:
File
Share
Master File ( the reason I chose Master File because it exports in high quality and also allows me to upload the file straight to YouTube.)
I changed the format to 'video and audio'
Selected the H.264 codec (This format is compatible on all platforms, and condenses the file without compromising the quality.)
